About the Author
David Emory Shi is a professor of history and the president emeritus of Furman University. He is the author of several books on American cultural history, including the award-winning The Simple Life: Plain Living and High Thinking in American Culture and Facing Facts: Realism in American Thought and Culture, 1850–1920.
George Brown Tindall spent many years on the faculty of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was an award-winning historian of the South with a number of major books to his credit, including The Emergence of the New South.

The First Not-Boring-Actually Enjoyable History Book with Slight Seal Issues

This book is actually the most enjoyable history book I've ever read. Being assigned pages to read is honestly not even a chore, which is so weird. I think it's because of how the author words things- not afraid to say when something is obviously wrong, keeping a continuous 'joke' going, and just really explaining all of the subjects in a way that isn't droning. I feel like the author is someone I would love to have coffee conversations with. It's worth buying the book for the class especially if you need to read it and happen to enjoy history.
Although, even though I rented the book as 'used' it came in a brand new packaging. Which is really cool, but also sort of awkward since the binding said 'This book is not returnable if the seal is broken' but you kinda can't read the book without breaking the seal and I'm renting it, so... Awkward. Super awesome that I got it new though!

You mean, you amended multiple chapters to highlight the diversity of experience for women and people of color during the formation of our country? Sign me up! I am reading this for a class, and have been thoroughly impressed with the objectivity and depth of the content, especially for a truncated version of the text.

The item was clearly described as "acceptable" so I won't hold my opinion against the Warehouse. When it arrived, most of the pages were stuck together. Now, I know what you're thinking... history isn't *that* exciting! Nevertheless, it was stuck together due to what appears to be coffee. I imagine somebody was so lost in study mode, they ran out of donuts and possibly dunked the corner of the book into their mug, hey it happens... It's readable and I managed to get most of the pages unstuck without damage. Just make sure you're ok with "so so" quality!
