It encompasses chapters on 3-D real-time and “live 3-D” echocardiography and Doppler echocardiography, CT tomographic scanning modalities, including multidetector spiral/helical dataset acquisitions, MRI and cardiac MRA, including phase contrast velocity mapping (PCVM), etc. An entire chapter is devoted to the understanding of post processing exploration techniques and the display of tomographic data, including “slice-and-dice” 3-D techniques and cine-MRI. Part II also encompasses an intuitive introduction to CFD as it pertains to intracardiac blood flow simulations, followed—in separate chapters—by conceptually rich treatments of the computational fluid dynamics of ejection and of diastolic filling. An entire chapter is devoted to fluid dynamic epigenetic factors in cardiogenesis and pre- and postnatal cardiac remodeling, and another to clinical and basic science perspectives, and their implications for emerging research frontiers.  Part III contains an Appendix presenting technical aspects of the method of predetermined boundary motion, “PBM,” developed at Duke University by the author and his collaborators.

The book arrived on time and in good condition. :)

I have never read a book by Morris Venden that didn't touch my soul and this one was no exception. I normally try to buy one for me and one to give away - and sometimes I only have one and wind up giving it away and then look for another one for me. He helps me understand and I love to read his books and if I read it more than once, I get something new out of it everytime I read it.

Great Book Study for Teachers & Principals

About the Author
John Cadick, P.E. is a registered professional engineer and the founder and president of the Cadick Corporation. Cadick has specialized for over three decades in electrical engineering, training, and management. His consulting firm, based in Garland, Texas, specializes in electrical engineering and training and works extensively in the areas of power system design and engineering studies, condition-based maintenance programs, and electrical safety. Prior to creating the Cadick Corporation and its predecessor Cadick Professional Services, he held a number of technical and managerial positions with electric utilities, electrical testing companies, and consulting firms. In addition to his consultation work in the electrical power industry, Mr. Cadick is the author of Cables and Wiring and of numerous professional articles and technical papers. Dr. Mary Capelli-Schellpfeffer, M.D., M.P.A. Chicago, Illinois (designer: this is the author bio I am missing, but Sally Glover has it in blues pages) Dennis K. Neitzel, C.P.E, is a certified plant engineer and has 33 years of experience in the electrical field. During eight years with the U.S. Air Force he served consecutively as an electrician, electrical shift supervisor, quality control inspector, and evaluator. Subsequent civilian employment included positions at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory and at Westinghouse Idaho Nuclear, where he advanced to senior project engineer. Mr. Neitzel went to AVO International Training Institute in 1986 and has progressed from senior training specialist to Institute director. He has served as a principal committee member for NFPA 70E standards since 1992 and is currently working on the revision of OSHA regulations. Useful and User-Friendly Facts from Highly Qualified Sources

This is a very useful and user-friendly book. I am especially impressed by the qualifications of the authors. One is a Certified Plant Engineer and longtime member of the Association for Facilities Engineering, one is a Registered Professional Enginer, and one is a Medical Doctor (board-certified as a physician in general preventive medicine and public health.) The book covers a wide range of topics; the illustrations are very compelling, too. All 12 chapters were dense with facts yet easy to follow.

This is an exceptionally useful and user-friendly handbook. I am particularly impressed by the authors' credentials -- one of them is a Certified Plant Engineer, one is a Registered Professional Engineer, and one of them is a Medical Doctor (board-certified as a physician in general preventive medicine and public health). The illustrations supplement the text very well, too.

The 2006 Strategy differs from the 2003 version primarily in that it sets different priorities for the strategic elements designed to achieve its goals. Perhaps most significant of these differences is a major increase in emphasis on democratization as a method of combating terrorism.

Additionally, the 2006 strategy places greater emphasis on denying terrorists sanctuary in underdeveloped, failed, and rogue states. The use of economic and political tools to strengthen nations vulnerable to the spread of terrorist influence appears to receive less emphasis in the 2006 Strategy than in the 2003 version.
Inherent in the National Strategy are a number of issues for Congress. These include (1) democratization as a counterterrorism strategy; (2) the validity of the Strategy’ s assumptions about terrorists; (3) whether the Strategy adequately addresses the situation in Iraq including the U.S. presence there as a catalyst for international terrorism; (4) the Strategy’s effectiveness against rogue states; (5) the degree to which the Strategy addresses threats reflected in recent National Intelligence Estimates; (6) mitigating extremist indoctrination of the young; and (7) the efficacy of public diplomacy. To the degree that the 2006 National Strategy for Combating Terrorism may not adequately address the importance of these and other relevant factors, some adjustment of the strategy and its implementation may be warranted.
